Avalanche of ideas and avalanche of emotions.
The Sun and the Moon in their dance combine with the square of Saturn and Uranus, the theme of 2021.
Both ideas and emotions are on the verge of a flood. The Greek heritage made us separate emotions from thoughts, reason from passion. It is as if emotions were natural enemies of the judicious use of rational thought. To such an extent that the word “reason” became synonymous with “the result of using logically supported thinking” as well as “being correct” or “succeeding in a dispute of ideas.” Passions (read, emotions) were something to be avoided because they lead thought to error.
The misunderstanding of some eastern cultures further increased this misunderstanding, only criticized by Hume, the philosopher who woke Kant from his dogmatic dream. Hume said that reason is only an instrument of emotions, which in many cases is really what happens. But, Hume was not convincing enough, because even today we continue with the tendency to “control” emotions. This is a very complicated topic that will only serve to provoke the topic of this full moon. At another time, we could go ahead with it, with the entire property, but not now.
This full moon is taking this basic and inappropriate contradiction to its ultimate consequences. Because thoughts follow emotions and emotions follow thoughts. Thoughts produce emotions. Just read a poem or listen carefully to the lyrics of a song. And emotions lead us to think in a certain way, and most of the time we end up acting in accordance with them. Remember how we plan an act of revenge or a surprise birthday party.
During these days, we are having a hard time harmonizing thoughts and emotions, which is usually already difficult. We can have thoughts that are contradictory to each other and emotions that are also double and contradictory to each other. So making decisions can be quite difficult because we will not be sure if we are using proper criteria for them or not. At the same time, Mars is wonderfully aspected, which gives us the impression that every action will be harmonious. This is not true, because if we follow conflicting thoughts and emotions, we can fall prey to evaluation errors. It could be already happening, as I write this text.
If it is necessary to make a decision for now, which can legitimately happen, more time and effort should be devoted to calming the mind and emotions, focusing on what is really desired, and carefully observing which action/decision is the most correct, or the right one, the more convenient, or appropriate.
On a more individual and personal level, displays of affection can become a roller coaster ride. In one moment everything seems clear, in the next moment the clarity disappears. Acting in these cases can seem risky because we can express something blurry and cause confusion. Non-verbal languages will be the clearest. Trust them. Give someone a hug (if possible) or just a look. A smile, a tear, or a laugh. Show your hands, shoulders, breathing. It may be enough, and it will certainly be necessary.
And remember that we are all having the same difficulty, that if someone expresses something confusing, it is not because the subject for that person is confusing: they may not know how to express it. Really! Breathe, consider. Relax and, if possible, help.
On the other hand, enjoying art is easier, producing art as well. It’s time to enjoy movies, music, and books… more than one, several. Artistically experience these intense emotions that take us out of the insipid balance of reason, and make us move towards the beyond, beyond the limits of rules and languages. There, a deep atmosphere will be waiting for you. And, eventually, a very loving one. However, above all, prudence.
